Where to eat in Slapton

30th April 2008

999Today food critic Natasha Heard lifts the lid on the villages' two pubs - The Tower Inn and The Queens Arms.

The Tower Inn
This 14th century pub oozes charm and character with its low ceilings, flagstone floors, church pew seating, log fires and peaceful beer garden. The menu provides new takes on old favourites and includes daily fish and game specials. There are separate menus for lunch and dinner and on Sundays. Food served from 12 until 2.30 and dinner from 7pm seven days a week. The pub also provides B&B accommodation in three comfortably furnished en-suite rooms.

The Queens Arms
The Queens Arms prides itself on being a real Devon pub attracting a true cross-section of village life. The pub is CAMRA listed and its regular beers include a good selection of real ales from local South West breweries. The pub holds an annual beer festival each spring. The kitchen serves a wide selection of pub grub including a variety of home-made pies and curries, the hottest of which is known as 'The Beast of Bodmin'.
